NFL Picks 2010 Week 5 - Should Be Interesting With Mid Week Trades

NFL Picks 2010: Week 5 – Should Be Interesting With Mid Week Trades – In week 4, I had a pretty tough week with my NFL picks but to be fair, there were a bunch of shockers that a lot of people didn’t see coming.

Last week, I had a mediocre 8-6 record with my picks but let’s be fair, who would have guessed the Rams would get their second win with an injured Jackson (wasn’t even sure he was going to play), the Browns pulling an upset against the Bengals, the Eagles’ Vick gets knocked out of the game from an injury, the Bears lose both their starting and second string quarterback and the Colts lose to the Jags on a last second 59-yard field.

If it wasn’t for those shockers, I would have been sitting at 15-1. But what’s done is done, let’s move onto the NFL picks for week 5.

Jags vs Bills – The Bills looked horrible last week and the week before that, well, this season hasn’t exactly been good to them. Though, they did trade RB Lynch this week so that should give more carries to Spiller and Jackson.  Meanwhile, the Jags pulled off an upset against the Colts and their offense seems to finally be coming around. Pick – Jags.

Broncos vs Ravens – Broncos looked good against the Titans last week and the Ravens beat the Steelers with a touchdown in their last drive to win. The Broncos are getting pretty one dimensional because of the lack of the running game so I think the Ravens defense will continue to dominate. Pick – Ravens.

Chiefs vs Colts – The Chiefs are 3-0, the Colts are 2-2. You would think the records would be flipped around the other way going into this 2010 season. The Chiefs have basically been winning games with their defense and special teams but I don’t think they’ll be able to stop the Colts who is coming off a shocking loss last week against the Jags. Pick – Colts.

Packers vs Redskins – The Packers offense has been rolling but their defense seems to be iffy. On the other hand, the Redskins offense just doesn’t look good at all and they were lucky to knock Vick out the game last week to pick up the win in Philly. Pick – Packers.

Rams vs Lions – These two teams have been the worst teams in the league the past few years but the Rams are turning things around. The Lions on the other hand are still win less on the year at 0-4. Look for the Rams’ offense to light it up. Pick – Rams.

Bears vs Panthers – Bears should have Cutler back as their starting QB and the Panthers will be missing their top wide receiver Steve Smith for at least one game. If the Panthers can’t pass with their top receiver, I highly doubt they’ll be able to do it without him. Pick – Bears.

Bucs vs Bengals – Bengals actually looked good, very good passing the ball last week but suffered a tough loss to the Browns. Look for them to rebound and continue their passing attack against the Bucs. Pick – Bengals.

Falcons vs Browns – The Falcons struggled a little bit last week and needed a last minute field goal to win but a win is a win. The Browns on the other hand has their running game paving their way and are looking for their second straight win. Though, I don’t think they’ll get it against the Falcons. Pick – Falcons.

Giants vs Texans – Giants defense simply dominated against the Bears last week. But let’s be fair, the Bears offensive line has been horrible this entire season and it definitely caught up to them. The Texans offense is just so well balanced that I don’t think the Giants will be able to stop them, especially if Texans’ wide receiver Andre Johnson plays. Pick – Texans.

Saints vs Cardinals – The Saints struggled last week and managed to pull off a win but the Cardinals seem to struggle every week to find consistency. The Cardinals may go with an undrafted rookie as their QB and until they can move the ball through the air consistently, I don’t think they have a chance against the defending Champs. Pick – Saints.

Titans vs Cowboys – The Titan’s Chris Johnson definitely isn’t going to hit his 2,500 yards goal this year and going against the Cowboys’ tough run defense isn’t going to help him either. The Cowboys should be fresh coming off their bye week and will look to win back to back game. Pick – Cowboys.

Chargers vs Raiders – Chargers finally had a great overall game but then again, it’s not saying much when it’s against the Cardinals. Luckily for them, the Raiders haven’t been that good either. Look for the Chargers to have another good overall game. Pick – Chargers.

Eagles vs 49ers – Without Michael Vick, it changes so many things for the Eagles. There is a reason Kolb was benched in favor of Vick so look for the 49ers to attack him with tons of blitzes. I think the 49ers will finally pick up their first victory. Pick – 49ers.

Vikings vs Jets – Mid season trade will change this game. The Vikings just traded for Randy Moss so he should draw attention from the Jets’ defense. Unfortunately for the Vikings, their All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis should be coming back and he’ll handle the Moss duties for round two. (Revis was injured playing against Moss)

The Jets will also get wide receiver Santanio Holmes for the first time this season and he should be able to spread the defense.

Those are my NFL picks for week 5. What are yours?
