Ricky Martin Comes Out – It looks like Ricky Martin is finally “livin’ la vida loca” as he made it official that he is gay. Martin recently released a statement on his website confirming speculations that many people have had over the last few years.

In a pretty long message written to fans which was published both in Spanish and English, the Puerto Rican singer says that when he was writing his memoirs, it just got him “very close to my truth”. He was referencing the fact that he could no longer hide his sexuality and that it would “indirectly diminish the glow that my kids here born with,” referring to his twin sons, who were born in 2008 to a surrogate mother.

Of course, many people have speculated this fact for years especially when he would always dodge the question. Though, in some interviews, he would answer the question indirectly when asked about past loves and rumors.

Back in August 1999 in a Rolling Stones story, he mentioned:

“You know, the bigger you get, the more people talk about you. You’ve been frank about saying your music appeals to everybody, men and women. Maybe as a result of that there’ve been some rumors flying around about your sexuality.”

And now we don’t have to base our opinions on rumors anymore.
