Katy Perry “Teenage Dream” Debuts At Number One – Dethrones Eminem
Katy Perry “Teenage Dream” Debuts At Number One – Dethrones Eminem – Eminem’s “Recovery” took the number one spot for seven weeks and it was bound to end. Of course, when one person gets knocked out, someone else moves up. Katy Perry took the number one spot with her debut of “Teenage Dream” which was the first for her.
Katy Perry’s previous album “One Of The Boys” reached as high as number nine but didn’t get any higher than that. Though, Perry has been a hit as of late especially since her song “California Girls” was number one on the single’s chart for quite sometime. With that type of success, she was bound to have more attention headed her way and she definitely got it this week.
“Teenage Dream” sold over 192,000 copies which was good enough to end Eminem’s reign and fight off Fantasia’s new album. Fantasia finished second with 117,000 copies sold while Eminem finished third this week.
People seem to be blaming Fantasia’s recent problems for her lack of sales. As you guys might have heard by now, she was hospitalized for an overdose and she was apparently going through some stress and issues in her life.
Rounding out the top five – Usher’s Versus came in at number four with 46,000 copies sold and Little Big Town’s The Reason Why sold 42,000.
