Brandon Phillips’ Comments Caused Reds-Cardinals Brawl?
Brandon Phillips’ Comments Caused Reds-Cardinals Brawl? – Okay, if you haven’t turned on the television to ESPN (or any sports networks) or haven’t checked out the baseball scores yet then you haven’t seen all the news coverage with the Reds and Cardinals brawl that took place last night. Apparently, this all started from the Reds’ second baseman, Brandon Phillips’ comments on their division rivals.
In case you guys were not aware, Phillips had this to say about the Cardinals:
“I’d play against these guys with one leg. We have to beat these guys. I hate the Cardinals. All they do is b**** and moan about everything, all of them, they’re little b******, all of ‘em. I really hate the Cardinals. Compared to the Cardinals, I love the Chicago Cubs. Let me make this clear: I hate the Cardinals.”
As you can see, he’s just not a very big fan of the division rivals and he doesn’t deny it at all.
Of course, the Cardinals didn’t really take his words too lightly as it resulted in a bench clearing brawl and ejections of the teams managers, Tony LaRussa and Dusty Baker.
It started when Phillips went into the batters box and apparently tapped the Cardinals catcher, Molina, and then words were exchanged.
Molina had this to say in a postgame interview:
“He talked bad about my team, he talked bad about me. Don’t talk bad and come up and say ‘hi’ to me. That’s stupid.”
Well, it was definitely intense and if you didn’t see the highlights, check out this Reds and Cardinals brawl below:
