NBA Bans Chewing Straws?
NBA Bans Chewing Straws - It might sound really weird but it looks as if the NBA has banned players from chewing straws. Of course, you may find that extremely weird given the fact that you would think NBA players would chew gum, if anything, during a game. Well, we know of at least one player who chews straws – Caron Butler.
Caron Butler, shooting guard/small forward who was recently traded to the Dallas Mavericks, was informed just the other day that we would need to stop chewing straws while playing on the court. I read that he would chew anywhere up to 12 straws per game! But recently, the NBA has decided that it needs to stop.
The NBA’s reasoning behind this is the fact that he could potentially choke on it during a game and that it is extremely hazard.
Though, a lot of people seem to question why they are doing it right now. Especially given the fact that Butler has been chewing straws during games for years and he has yet to experience any negative impact on it.
But regardless of what has happened in the past, Butler and any other NBA players will need to stop chewing straws while playing in games.
The good news, you can at least chew them while sitting on the bench!
