From Russia – With Love?  Sexy Russian Spy Steals the Spotlight – Alleged Russian “spy” Anna Chapman is quite the hottie, and maybe that’s why she’s stolen the spotlight from the 10 others (11 total) who have been accused of being in a spy ring.  So, who is Anna Chapman?

She’s an unmarried, fire-headed woman who went from high-society party and rubbed shoulders with other well-to-dos, and if the accusations against her are true – she was doing her job.  She was supposed to rub shoulders with “people of power” and get a sense of what they think about U.S. foreign policy, etc.

Another thing that should be clarified, none of the 10 are really “spies” in the conventional sense.  They’re more like agents working for another government, but not intent on uncovering top secret information.  That’s why they are charged not with spying, but as operating in the interests of a foreign nation.  That, and money laundering.

According to The Guardian newspaper, “the FBI alleges that the Russian intelligence service, the SVR, sent spies to live in the US under false names with the intent of becoming so Americanised they could build relationships with sources and gather information without raising suspicion.”

So, if the allegations are true, she was only taking the pulse of the political elite to gauge what policy makers might do in regards to foreign policy.  When information was gathered, she would allegedly send the information to a source in the Russian intelligence agency.

You know what I think?  It doesn’t matter how hot anyone is – if they’re doing things to compromise U.S. interests and foreign policy, that’s at the very least treason.
