National Day Of Prayer 2010 Cancelled By Obama

National Day Of Prayer 2010 Cancelled By Obama? – So, it appears that there is this rumor of National Day of Prayer 2010 being cancelled by President Obama and the observance will not take place on May 6th like it was intended. Though, that seems to be just a rumor because nothing was officially confirmed.

The main rumor I heard was President Obama canceling National Day of Prayer to “honor the voices of atheists and certain other.” But all of that seems to be false especially the fact that there is a “1988 Act of Congress” which sets the observance on the first Thursday of every May.

I don’t know how these rumors start but last year the event took place like it was scheduled and President Obama took part of it. Though, last year Obama broke the George W. Bush tradition of holding a White House ceremony for the event. But then again, I don’t blame him for not following in Bush’s footsteps. :)

I believe President Truman initiated the National Day of Prayer and it became an ongoing practice for years to come. So, as of right now the event is not cancelled unless President Obama officially announces something in the next couple of weeks.

1988 Act of Congress setting the observance on the first Thursday of every May….

THEREFORE, it would take ANOTHER Act of Congress to dismiss the National Day of Prayer all together…

Listen Christians, live by example!!! Think and Discern!!!

This is backwards. A federal judge struck down the National Day of Prayer because it is blatantly unconstitutional, But the White House will still issue a proclamation while the case is being appealed.

Why is there a National Day of Prayer in any case? Does anyone who believes in prayer wait for the government to tell them when to pray, or pray on one day a year? Think about it.

And think about what Jesus said in Matt 6:5-6 – Be ye not like the hypocrits who pray in public, but go into your closet. . .

The day that religious people start practitioner what their founders teach is the day I throw my support in for a Day of Prayer

So far all they have managed to do is create strife, hatred and religion.
Why is it that the worst example of man’s inhumanity to man has to be fostered by Muslims against Christians, Christians against Jews, Jews against Muslims, Hindus against Muslims.

Holding a day of prayer is no substitute for practising love, charity, kindness, forgiveness and brotherhood.

Why is it that the only thing that religions do is foster hatred.
    ….and molest little children??

Rather than a Day of Prayer, Relgious folks should spend a day trying to figure out why they are not following the main teachings of their founders.

Sometimes defending religious ceremony can be a substitue for observing relgious teachings.
