NFL Top 100 Players Of All Time List: NFL Rank vs Fan Rank
NFL Top 100 Players Of All Time List: NFL Rank vs Fan Rank – The NFL Top 100 players of all time list was released and it looks like there aren’t too many rankings in common between the NFL vs fans. The good news is the NFL and the fans both agree on who the number one player of all time is – Jerry Rice.
I don’t think too many people are going to argue with Jerry Rice taking the number one spot on the list. I mean, not only did he play in the NFL for 18 seasons (which is a long time in this sport) but he holds just about every career receiving record that is out there. He currently is in first with 1,549 catches, 22,895 receiving yards, 208 receiving touchdowns and has 14 1,000+ receiving yards seasons. Not only is he in first in those categories, he’s so far ahead that many people question if those marks will ever be broken.
Though, after Jerry Rice, the NFL and fans ranking of players are really scattered.
The NFL ranks their top 10 as followed:
Jerry Rice, Jim Brown, Lawrence Taylor, Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Johnny Unitas, Reggie White, Peyton Manning, Don Hutson and Dick Butkus.
Meanwhile, the fans ranks their top 10 as followed:
Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, John Elway, Jim Brown and Emmitt Smith.
As you can see, the fans definitely favor the offensive players especially since there’s not one single defensive player in their top 10 list. Though, there should at least be a couple. Names such as Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White, Dick Butkus, Ronnie Lott and Joe Greene comes to mind.
Meanwhile, Emmitt Smith, who is the all time leading rusher didn’t even make it on the NFL’s top 10 rank? He’s ranked 28th? I mean, seriously?
When you guys have a chance, check out the NFL top 100 and let me know what you guys agree or disagree with. I’m more curious on the top 20 players because it’s hard trying to narrow down the top 100 of all time.
