Killer Whale Attack Video 2010
Killer Whale Attack Video 2010- In Orlando a killer whale, Tilikum, killed it’s trainer, Dawn Branchea, in the Sea World Park. On, Wednesday, while introducing her next show to some spectators, the whale caught her and drowned her. The video footage of the incident has not been released yet.
In the past the same whale has wounded three other people but Sea Work Park authorities felt that this species was too valuable to let it go. According to the Sea World reports, Tilikum, was the parks best performer and is the father of 13. Sea World authorities have asked the trainers of this whale and seven other whales to change their training styles to help prevent future incidents like this one.
Tilikum is the only breeding male whale in the park, weighing 12000 pounds. Sea World authorities keep the whale alone due to his size and killer nature, so it doesn’t hurt anyone. They have one other male and six female whales besides this one. Experts of this whale breed, say that loneliness makes the animal more hyper and dangerous. Experts also said that these whales travel more than 100 miles in the open sea and in groups. This small pool area and separating them could have dangerous results.
It’s sad that it had to take not one but various incidents for authorities to realize that these whales are begin pushed to the edge by being stuck in limited pool area and being separated from it’s pack. It’s against their nature and eventually the animals will become frustrated and violent.
What bothers me the most about this is that Sea World is more concerned about the value of whale than the whales well being and the well being of people that work with them. I think more drastic measures should be taken because this is just going to get worse and more people are going to get hurt.
