San Francisco Giants Win World Series: Defeat Texas Rangers 3-1 In Game 5
San Francisco Giants Win World Series: Defeat Texas Rangers 3-1 In Game 5 – It has been a great MLB season and it all finally came to an end yesterday. The San Francisco Giants win the World Series in five games as they knocked out the Rangers to become the 2010 champions and the first title in franchise history.
Game 5 was a pitching rematch from the first of the World Series between Cliff Lee vs Tim Lincecum. It was what we all expected from game 1 – a pitching duel. Unfortunately, Cliff Lee made one crucial mistake and ended up with his second loss in the World Series.
The mistake that Lee made was a 2-0 fastball to Edgar Renteria (World Series MVP), who hit it out of the left-center field wall for a three-run homer. And that was all of the offense the Giants needed, especially with Lincecum pitching how he was throughout the game. He pitched eight innings, gave up only three hits, one run while striking out 10.
His only mistake was a solo shot he gave up to Nelson Cruz in the seventh inning but he quickly shrugged it off.
It was an amazing World Series between two of the best teams in MLB this season. Congratulations to the San Francisco Giants on winning their first World Series title in 2010!
